This album is devoted to the art of Turkmenia and acquaints the reader with the birth and development of the national school of painting. It includes reproductions of canvases by I.Mazel, founder of the Art School of the East, works by the first national artist Biashim Nurali, paintings of the pre-war period and, finally, canvases executed in the post-war years, particulaTly those of Izzat Kjychev, People's Artist of the Turkmen SSR. A number of young Turkmen painters who emerged in the 1960s and played a significant part in shaping the character of contemporary Turkmenian art are also represented.
